Roots

I embarked on a personal project to explore my Levantine heritage, intricately examining themes of beauty, art, history, antiquity, mysticism, and the ethereal. This journey is presented through three short videos, each serving as a unique vignette that delves into a distinct theme.

Beauty

The first video captivates viewers with an immersive journey through the enchanting beauty and ethereal ambiance of the Levantine garden, subtly infused with echoes of Andalusia. It intricately showcases majestic columns and Arabesque patterns that embrace the essence of a paradise garden, adorned with a diverse array of vibrant flowers, lush plants, and tranquil water features. The presence of Qanun music further breathes life into the ambience.

History

In the second video, I encapsulate the poignant lament of Zenobia before her exile to Rome. Transporting viewers to a bygone era, she stands within an isolated environment, encircled by a rotating golden ring adorned with intricate Arabesque patterns. Amidst the crimson speckles on her person, her voice echoes with haunting cries. My aim is not only to capture the essence of her emotions but also to immerse the audience in the rich tapestry of the past, where each speckle tells a story of sacrifice and resilience.

Mysticism

In the third and final video, I delve into the mysticism inherent in the land, exploring the origins of religion and spirituality. This installment unveils a sacred structure designed to facilitate divine intervention, fostering growth and bountiful harvests in the surrounding terrain. Through this exploration, viewers are invited to contemplate the profound connection between the mystical elements of the land and the historical foundations that have shaped its spiritual landscape.

Behind the Design

The primary inspiration for the design stemmed from the intricate Arabesque patterns, which hold immense cultural significance. Additionally, my exploration delved into the diverse columns and pillars of the region, the rich flora, and the historical context. A thorough study of traditional Levantine houses and structures, along with an in-depth examination of Andalusian gardens, further contributed to shaping the overall design.
